1. What does a Reiki treatment feel like?
The answer to this question is unique for each person or animal. Some people don’t feel anything during a Reiki treatment but notice some health improvements afterward. Animals are more sensitive to energy than people, and they feel Reiki and understand it’s healing benefits right away. With people, Reiki is often experienced as heat, vibrations, or pulsing. During a treatment, Reiki is usually associated with feelings of peace and relaxation.
For some clients, both people and animals, Reiki affects the emotions more than the physical body. This is because Reiki always finds the issues that need the most healing, and often physical issues have emotional root causes. When it is in the best interest of the client, Reiki can bring up past emotional issues that have been buried for many years and help the client to resolve and release them.
The results of a Reiki treatment may be felt during the treatment, directly after, or over the following several days. It may become clear that a significant issue has shifted or an old pattern released or there may be an unexpected physical improvement. Regular treatments facilitate the process of working through and letting go of the issues that need healing for animals and humans. Regular treatments bring about continued healing on all levels: physical, emotional, and spiritual.
2. Can Reiki ever do harm?
No, Reiki energy comes from a benevolent source in the Universe. Mrs. Takata, who brought Reiki to the West from Japan, described Reiki as “Godpower”, in the sense that the source of the energy is a power higher than mankind. It can only be used for good. If someone were to try to use Reiki for negative purposes, it simply would not work.
3. I’ve heard you can send Reiki over distances. Is this true?
Yes, this is true. Reiki, because it is pure energy, is not subject to the limitations of space, or for that matter of time. Scientists have accepted that space and time are relative, not absolute, concepts ever since Einstein’s Theory of Relativity was embraced by the scientific community. This concept is basic to the field of quantum physics. Although science cannot yet explain phenomena like Reiki in concrete terms, the conceptual framework to do so in the future has been developing for many years.
Distant Reiki is especially helpful with animals, since it means that any animal can be treated in any circumstance. Wild and/or fearful or aggressive animals can be treated without being restrained, having to submit to unwanted proximity to a human, or to human touch. Sending Reiki to mental and emotional matters, including past issues, can be a valuable part of treating both humans and animals. For instance, in animals, distant healing of the emotional effects of past trauma or abuse can greatly accelerate the healing of behavioral issues and deepen the relationship with human companions.
4. If I can’t bring my animal to you, is there any way you can help her?
Distant Reiki treatments are as effective as treatments given in person. We offer distant treatments for animals and their companions to address challenges on all levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Distant treatments can be helpful in any situation, including stress, illness, emotional distress, and when facing the end of life. Distant treatments can be helpful to the human caretaker as well around the time of an animal’s transition and in other stressful situations.
5. What kinds of healing are Reiki and flower essences?
In addition to animal communication, the Animal Healing Institute offers two forms of energy healing for animals and their companions: Reiki and flower essence therapy. These methods are holistic and are part of the emerging field of energetic medicine. They have roots in the wisdom and knowledge of ancient cultures and have evolved for use in modern times. Homeopathy and acupuncture are two of the best-known examples of energy healing systems and they have gained wide acceptance in our Western culture.
Physicists now believe that everything in the universe is made up of and connected by energy. Energy is present all around us at all times and interacts with our own energetic systems. The therapies that we use at the Animal Healing Institute all work by causing a positive shift at the innermost, energetic level of the person or animal being treated. They affect the physical body but encompass more than the physical level, addressing challenges and providing healing on mental, emotional, and spiritual levels as well.
Together with animal communication, Reiki and flower essences allow beings to make long-lasting shifts toward health at the deepest levels. They are gentle, safe, non-invasive, painless, and stress-free for animals. Animals, including wild animals, readily understand and seek out their benefits. In addition, the treatments we offer involve no harm to any person, plant, or animal to provide their healing benefits.

6. Why have you chosen to use animal communication, Reiki, and flower essences?
Animal communication alone is very healing for animals and often for their people as well. In its own way, animal communication is a form of energy healing since communication takes place along unseen energetic pathways. For the animal the process of being heard and understood shifts the energy of the situation in the direction of healing. Reiki and flower essences complement the communication work and provide additional layers of healing for both animal and person.
